2018 Summer Reading

2018 Summer Reading Overview

Washington High School promotes reading during the summer months. Students are encouraged to read many books this summer, but are REQUIRED to read at least one book and complete a reading response log.

Students will use the reading log to complete an essay assignment or project upon returning to school in August 2018. Students will receive credit for the reading response log and assignment through English classes.

Summer reading response logs will be collected from the 1st day of school through Friday, August 31.

The goal is for students to continue reading throughout the summer.

Certain classes have required reading lists and assignments.  Those classes include:
*AP Literature
*AP Language and Composition
*AP Seminar
*Pre-AP English II

Response Log & Assignment

Students will be asked to show evidence of their reading by completing one of the following reading response logs. This log will be used to assist students with a written assignment that will be completed in their English class in the fall.

The reading response log and written assignment will be collected and credit will be assigned through 2018-2019 English classes.
